Rick is a truly ultra-versatile musician, singer and performer.
He started playing in a group (as they were called then!) way back in 1966 aged 14 on Bass Guitar, although he had been learning Classical Piano from the age of 7.
Throughout the decades since then, Rick has played keyboards, guitar and vocals with various established bands extensively in his native London and South East, as well as all over the UK and abroad.
In the mid 90s, Rick launched his solo career, which remains his primary act, but he also performs in duos, including THE MARCH HARES with singer/guitarist Lynette Frances, and likewise with Rita B, who is also the "Debbie Harry" in the Tribute Band JE SUIS BLONDIE (of which Rick is the guitarist!).
His musical influences stem from growing up though the 50s & 60s, and so he specialises in performing classics from those eras, but also through the 70s and 80s, and even into the 90s. You will hear plenty of songs from Elvis, Cliff and Shadows, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Small Faces, Hollies, Eagles, Dire Straits, Queen, Spandau Ballett, to name but a few.
The 1960s are Rick's speciality, and he sometimes performs a Sixties Show
(see picture, left!)
Of course in the 90s, custom backing tracks were not as readily available as they are today, so Rick set up a home studio, and with the assistance of a Synthesiser workstation, live instruments and his own backing vocals, painstakingly creating many authentic tracks from scratch.
But in addition to Rick's Guitar/Vocal solo work from the above-mentioned eras, he displays a much wider talent vocally, being equally comfortable performing classics from the decades before he was born through to the 70s..... Memorable numbers from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Perry Como,
Andy Williams, Neil Diamond, etc.
This is particularly suitable for older audiences, for example in Retirement Villages, Care Homes, Coastal Hotels, or any other institutions where people of a senior age group would be present.
Of course, Rick can, and does, mix and match: so he can incorporate a mixture of all his given styles of performance, should the occasion demand.
In the late 90s, one of Rick's musician colleagues suggested that he should utilise his Piano-playing talents in a Tribute to the great ELTON JOHN.
At that time, there were many different tribute artists on the circuit, and Rick promptly researched Elton's back catalogue of hit singles, once again creating the backing tracks himself, and soon started live performances
Rick plays live keyboard, and sometimes a real piano if one is available (and in tune!) at the venue.
The show comprises many of Elton's well know songs from the early "Your Song", through the hits of the 70s and 80s, and into the 90s.
Among many others, he performs Daniel, Crocodile Rock, Candle in the Wind, I'm Still Standing, Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word, Don't Go Breaking My Heart (with the assistance of any willing female in the audience!), Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me, Nikita, Sacrifice, etc.
In this current year (2019) Rick has been getting a significant amount of Elton Tribute shows booked, no doubt on the back of the recent "Rocket Man" Movie.
Rick has been playing mainly solo gigs for the past 24 years, but more recently enjoyed working once again alongside others.
A number of years ago, he teamed up with Lynette Frances forming a duo known as THE MARCH HARES, and they work together playing an eclectic mix of songs from 60s to current.
His most recent venture is lead guitarist and co-founding member of the four piece JE SUIS BLONDIE tribute band with fellow vocalist Rita B (as Debbie Harry).
This vibrant and energetic Tribute to Blondie formed in 2018, and are now building up a good following in the South East. (More can be found about the band in the main section of the website.
And also from time to time, Rick plays Keyboards, assuming the role of Benny Andersson with Abba Stars UK.
...As if that isn't time consuming enough, Rick is also the rhythm guitarist with a Cliff Richard and Shadows Tribute Band, fronted by the amazing Showman Kytsun Wolfe, who also runs the "Bobby Socks and Blue Jeans" show (basically the same band with extra members). These bands play Theatre concerts all over the UK.
