HOW
YOU CAN RAISE OVER £1700 FROM YOUR RACE NIGHT
This example is based on seventy people attending with an eight
race card, eight horses per race programme and is not a guaranteed
outcome.
RACE SPONSORSHIP ( @ £25 per race) = £200
Get a local business or club member to sponsor a race. They will
have a race named after their business printed on the race card.
HORSE OWNERSHIP ( @ £10 per horse) = £640
Sell each horse and get the owners name printed on the race card.
The winning owner is presented with a prize on the night (e.g.
a bottle of wine).
ADVERTISING ( @ £100) = £100
Get a local business to advertise on the back of the race card.
They must provide artwork/logo etc.
TOTE TICKET SALES ( @ £1 per ticket) =
£420
Based on each person spending an average of £1.50 on each
race, with your organisation keeping 50%.
AUCTION RACE ( @ £30 bid per horse) =
£120
Sell each horse to the highest bidder on one or more races, give
50% of the total to the winning owner and 50% to your funds. A
normal tote would also operate on an auction race.
TRICAST TICKET SALES ( @ £1 per ticket)
= £236
An A4 sheet of paper (which can be enlarged to A3 size) containing
336 boxes with pre-printed numbered combinations representing
the numbers of the first three horses across the line in one of
the races. The tickets can be sold in advance of your event. The
correct combination number holder wins £100, giving your
charity or club £236. (If you don’t sell all the tricast
boxes, give 1/3 of the tricast money raised and keep the remaining
2/3 for your funds). Usually one tricast race is run per event,
but it is possible to run more than one sheet if all the ticket
are sold.
ADMISSION TICKETS ( @ £2) = £140
To ensure good attendance sell admission tickets in advance of
your event – people are more likely to turn out, even in
atrocious weather, if they have already paid for a ticket.
LOSERS PRIZE
Your guests write their names on the back of their losing tote
tickets and drop them in a box that is placed next to the tote
table. At the end of the evening a ticket is pulled from the box
and the lucky ticket holder wins a prize eg. a bottle of wine.
The result is no discarded tickets on the floor or tables and
the whole audience stays until the end!
GRAND TOTAL = £1856.00
All the above percentages and suggestions are variable and optional.
In addition you can sell the races cards, hold a raffle and of
course you have a captive audience for the bar.
We cannot guarantee you will make the amounts above, but with
careful planning and a reasonable audience you should cover your
cost and also make a good profit.
